Is your dog an alpha dog – how about a top dog?  This is one of the questions dog trainer, Jean Conte, asked participants at a recent gathering at Spectrum Generations’s Coastal Community Center.   Conte explained the 10 tests a dog needs to pass to receive certification from the American Kennel Club.  Sophie- a Burmese Mountain dog, Lucy-a Cocker Spaniel, Tillie-a German Shepard/Austrian Cattle dog mix and, Jacques – a miniature Poodle, all did their owners proud as they socialized and got to know one another.  In fact, 9 out of 10 passed the American Kennel Club tests with #10 asking for a re-count.      No alpha dogs here…..

Volunteers Serenaded

On December 15th,  over 65 volunteers at Spectrum Generations’s Cohen Community Center enjoyed wine and hor ‘s douvres as a show of appreciation by the staff.  As volunteers enjoyed good company and good food in our lovely dining room overlooking a meadow, they were serenaded by the Cony High School Madrigals singing group.  The spirit of the holiday, the spirit of appreciation and the spirit of giving all joined together for a memorable volunteer event.

The beautifully intricate work of local artist Doug Lane was recently on display at the Knox Community Center for friends, family and community to view.   Paper, water color and acrylics exploded with color and vividness.  Visitors enjoyed the opening reception the newly remodeled center.  Doug donated 10% of his sales to support the important programs offered by Spectrum Generations.
